San Zaccaria
This distinctive church is one of the earliest buildings from the Renaissance in Venice, and was built in the mid-15th century. It was the third church on the site. The simple façade is one of the most beautiful in Venice.br/br/It’s one of the richest churches in Venice in terms of art treasures. The walls of the nave are beautifully painted, as is the roof behind the altar.br/br/Down in the crypt, eight doges lie in eternal rest, albeit often covered in slightly pungent stagnant water from the lagoon.
